The Gem is a collaboration between Dan Mann and 2X World Longboard Champion Taylor Jensen.
Earlier this year Taylor asked Dan to consider a one board in the trunk option for long boarders who want both trim and turns; he was essentially asking Dan for a design that would land somewhere between his TJPro and his TJEveryday.
Dans response was an intriguing intersection of shortboard style concaves with a longboard style outline and the same fin placements that Taylor likes in all his boards.
He and Taylor decided to call this model The Gem because of how valuable it is a one board quiver for 9 foot plus board riders that can trim on the nose as easily as it can carve on rail.
The diamond tail isnt a coincidence. Its a Gem.

TIMBERTEK represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in todays environmentally conscious world. While by no means sustainably built, Firewires TIMBERTEK has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today.
The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown Paulownia wood deck skins, Firewires proprietary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewires existing technologies.
Even more impressive, the physical properties of the raw materials involved have allowed us to reduce exterior lamination significantly, furthering the reduction of the boards carbon footprint. Or as we like to describe TIMBERTEK, its simply High Performance Art.
Paulownia wood is extremely fast growing; up to 20 feet in one year when young. Some species of plantation Paulownia can be harvested for saw timber in as little as five years. Once the trees are harvested, they regenerate from their existing root systems, earning the name of the Phoenix tree.
Firewire is dedicated to elevating the surfing experience through innovative design, new materials, and advanced construction methods. Every surfboard, traction pad, and leash we build is designed with a single goal in mind to improve the surfing experience as much as possible while impacting the environment as little as possible.
